Welcome to Batesville, Arkansas

Batesville, the second oldest city in Arkansas, is located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, and is bordered by the beautiful White River. The river provides plenty of recreation opportunities: Ramps on the south side offer boating access to the upper river, while the area below the dam is popular with those who prefer to fish from the bank. There are parks on the north and south banks where you can enjoy a picnic or let the kids burn off their excess energy on the playground equipment. A pavilion takes center stage for many community events such as the Batesville’s Got Talent competition in connection with the White River Water Carnival.

Batesville is also the home of the Mark Martin NASCAR Museum, which houses his collection of cars, uniforms, trophies, and other racing memorabilia. On Saturday nights during the summer, you can visit the Batesville Motor Speedway where Martin got his start in racing.

Main Street Batesville works year round to promote the local businesses that call Downtown Batesville home. They sponsor several events throughout the year, including a Wander and Wonder night the Second Friday of each month that features live entertainment and businesses staying open late.

The Old Independence Regional Museum offers a glimpse into the history of the area with its exhibits, archives, and permanent collections. They offer numerous programs designed to realistically show how people lived long ago. Family Day events may include blacksmithing, candlemaking and butter churning exhibitions, among others. Be sure to stop by their gift shop for unique, handcrafted gifts – many of them made by local artisans.

Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, or thinking of becoming a resident, you’re sure to fall in love with Batesville’s natural beauty and the hospitality of its residents.
